CATIA

CATIA Fundamentals & Advanced

Keltia Ireland is the only company in Ireland delivering CATIA training to Irish Industry. We also provide SolidWorks & Autodesk Inventor training to companies in the medical device, automotive and aerospace industries.

Our trainers are industry experienced designers who understand the practical application of computer aided design as applied to design and manufacturing industries.

This course introduces the CATIA V5 user interface. It intends to give engineers and technical designers the ability to navigate the V5 environment. The relationship between Solutions, Workbenches and Toolbar is explained. Starting up CATIA, workbench selection and switching between workbenches is performed. Screen layout, settings and Tool Bar locations are covered. Mouse skills and view manipulation is practiced. The product structure and file system are outlined. Part Design and Sketcher Workbenches are explored using example models.

Completion of this class should leave the student capable of entering V5 documents with an understanding of the file structure and basic functionality. They will know how to navigate the file structure to interrogate existing models and make simple parts.

Suggested Audience:
Whether creating new designs or integrating existing engineering documents, this class provides the fundamental skills necessary for the operation of CATIA V5. This course is recommended as a prerequisite to all other courses offered.

KINEMATICS

With this guide learn how to create and simulate V5 mechanisms using CATIA products. The guide begins with an overview of the mechanism design process. Then each step in the process is discussed in depth with the use of lectures and many hands-on exercises. This training guide also introduces the concept of converting assembly constraints into kinematic joints. Additionally, an introduction on converting V4 mechanism to V5 is provided. Finally, the guide covers the 3D model method of creating kinematic assemblies.

ADVANCED SURFACING

This training guide expands on the knowledge learned in the CATIA: Introduction to Surface Design training guide by covering advanced curve and surface topics found in the Generative Shape Design Workbench. Tools and methods for rebuilding geometry are also discussed. As with the CATIA: Introduction to Surface Design training guide, meeting model specifications (such as continuity settings) remains forefront in introducing tools and methodologies.

SHEET METAL

This training guide enables students to create features that are specific to the sheet-metal modelling process. Students are provided with a process-based approach to creating sheet-metal models. Each step in the process is discussed in depth. This training guide focuses on the Generative Sheet Metal Design workbench.
